How can I do the visualizations if I have aphantasia?

< 1 min read

Good question! Visualization is often taught as “seeing” something clearly in your mind, which can be confusing if you have aphantasia. But visualization doesn’t always mean forming a mental image.

For people with aphantasia, it’s more about conceptualizing, feeling, or intending rather than seeing a picture. You might not see a sunset in your mind’s eye, but you can still know what it means to feel calm, grounded, or present, and the emotional and physiological impact is still very real.

So while the method might look different, the effect of visualization (like calming the nervous system or setting intentions) can still work. It’s just about finding a language and approach that fits how your brain processes the world.

There are a few guided visualizations on our YouTube if you want to try it out. Here’s a 7-Minute Calming Beach Guided Visualization

For community members that want to learn more about the power of visualization and work on strengthening their visualization practice, we offer a Deep Dive called The Art of Visualization! Members can purchase it in the community or in your www.re-origin.com account.
