Jocelyn’s Life Before Lyme Disease
Before her diagnosis, Jocelyn was a vibrant, energetic individual widely regarded as “the life of the party.” She was a powerhouse in her professional life, balancing numerous responsibilities and excelling in business development. “I was known as the person you’d go to if you needed something done,” she shared, reflecting on her days of endless energy.
This dynamic lifestyle was dramatically interrupted in 2019 when Jocelyne’s Lyme Disease came out of remission. Chronic fatigue, pain, and brain fog became her new reality, making it impossible for her to continue living the life she once knew.
The Dark Days of Chronic Lyme Disease
While Lyme Disease symptoms can vary in type and intensity, Jocelyn’s were relentless: “My biggest symptoms were pain starting in my midsection, extreme fatigue, and brain fog.”
The bacteria Borrelia burgdorferi, often carried by blacklegged ticks (commonly known as deer ticks), is notorious for causing chronic symptoms that impact daily functioning. The infection often presents with flu-like symptoms and, if left untreated, can progress to severe complications involving the brain, spinal cord, and other parts of the nervous system. For Jocelyn, the disease wreaked havoc on her ability to work and enjoy life. She found herself bedridden, overwhelmed by fatigue, and unable to find relief through conventional Lyme disease treatments like intravenous antibiotics and transfusions.
“I went to a really dark place,” she admitted. “Never at any point in time did I consider hurting myself, but I did pray regularly that if God wanted to take me, I was ready.” This mental and emotional exhaustion is common for many Lyme Disease patients who face prolonged symptoms without improvement. For Jocelyn, the constant pain, fatigue, and brain fog left her feeling defeated, with little hope of regaining the life she once knew.
Finding Hope Through re-origin
After years of trying various treatments without success, Jocelyn stumbled upon this article from re-origin Founder and CEO Ben Ahrens. Desperate for relief, she decided to give the re-origin program a try: “By this point in time, I was not able to walk, I had trouble driving, I couldn’t catch words, and I was getting desperate.” re-origin uses brain retraining techniques, designed to help individuals with chronic conditions like Lyme Disease, rewire their brains and reduce symptoms. Jocelyn was intrigued by the program’s potential to offer a new approach to healing, especially since traditional treatments had failed to help her restore her health.
re-origin provided a structured framework for healing, and the results were life-changing for Jocelyn. She began with simple techniques like breathing exercises and gradually worked through the program’s training modules. “I feel like I don’t remember waking up without pain until six months ago, but this morning, I woke up and relished how really good I felt,” Jocelyn shared. For those suffering from Lyme Disease symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, and body aches, brain retraining programs can be a lifeline, offering a path to healing that goes beyond just antibiotic treatment and therapy.
A New Beginning: Jocelyn’s Road to Recovery
Today, Jocelyn’s life looks very different. Through brain retraining, she has learned to manage her symptoms, regain her energy, and rediscover the joy in daily life. Jocelyn’s recovery journey serves as a testament to the power of neuroplasticity and the ability of the brain to heal from the effects of chronic illness. “Now that I feel better, I can enjoy long walks with my dog, visit friends, and even get back to work,” Jocelyn shared. “I didn’t realize how much I missed those little things, but they make all the difference.”
The program has given her not only physical relief but also a renewed sense of purpose. “I am creating a new me—someone who knows where their talents, skills, and passions are and can use the things I learned in re-origin to enhance those and grow.” Jocelyn’s journey has taught her that recovery from Lyme Disease is possible, and she now looks forward to achieving personal goals, such as biking the Ceno Canal with her dog, Lucy—a dream she never thought would be possible during her darkest days of illness.
